In the next few posts, I'm going to be featuring a series of simple cardboard building technique videos. I made these to use in the classroom so they have no sound, but they will walk you through various techniques that will help you build your vision.
One of the most common cardboard-building challenges is making a "wall" of cardboard that stands on another piece on end. I often find students in Makerspace gluing the tiny edge of cardboard and sticking it on to another piece. As I always tell them, this will work only if you hold it very still for a very long time. A better way to do it is to create tabs. The video below shows how to do it with a toilet paper tube and a flat piece of single-walled cardboard.
Depending on the cardboard you are using, kid scissors will probably work, but large scissors would be better. You also need glue; white glue is best but anything you have is worth trying. This technique will also work with chipboard from cereal boxes.
